Beamline 21-ID-D: Sector 21 - Insertion Device

LS-CAT
Life Sciences

Description

Sector 21 is a canted undulator beamline with the upstream undulator providing tunable X-rays via a Kohzu double crystal monochromator. Bimorph mirrors focus the beam and keep it centered on the sample. The end station has an MD3-UP microdiffractometer with an adjustable kappa goniometer, UR robotic sample changer, cryostat, and Arinax HC-Lab Humidity Controller. Historically the station has predominately performed high throughput cryocrystallography, but more of the time will be focused on serial and pump-probe crystallography going forward.

Supported Techniques

  • Macromolecular crystallography
  • Serial Crystallography

Beamline Controls and Data Acquisition

Arinax MD3-UP diffractometer software (with LS-CAT developed extensions) for sample mounting, centering, diagnostics, and data collection. VME EPICS/MEDM low-level interface, PMAC motion control, and Linux workstations for data collection and processing.

Detectors

  • Dectris EIGER2 16M

Additional Equipment

  • UR robotic sample changer supporting UniPuck standard
  • MD3-UP microdiffractometer
